Cherry Blossom Race Route

10 Miles on the Odometer

Just ran my first road race today the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler! I had a lot of fun and put in a pretty good time considering it was my first race and I did next to no training. The course was mostly flat and we got to enjoy seeing all of the cherry blossom trees in full bloom.

Race course through all of the blooming cherry blossom trees

It took me about 5 miles to settle in since the day was so cold and my muscles were pretty tight. After mile 5 it was pretty smooth sailing and I even managed to accelerate during the last three miles to a strong finish.
I took a few pics during the day, none while running the race of course, but some before and after.

My official time 1:30.43, not bad for the 1st timer!

I had a great time and really enjoyed the feeling running with so many other people. It made it really easy to stay motivated and to keep trying. I may not be able to keep up with my friend Andrew’s (pictured above) 6:40 minute miles anytime soon, but I will work on it.
Look out Alex Wong, next time I will not let you beat me!
