A Close Shave

A Close Shave

A Close Shave
I had never gone more than three days without shaving before. I probably had my first shave in about the eighth grade and haven’t looked back since. So it was definitely a new experience when I decided to let my facial hair grow out for the first time ever. Ostensibly the catalyst had been the discovery that my facial hair has a decidedly red tinge to it, but in fact general curiosity was just as much a motivation for me.
I only lasted about three weeks before I decided it had to go.
It’s not that I hated how it looked, I actually got quite a few compliments and I liked it more than I had expected. I just didn’t like the feeling of something my face and I certainly didn’t like how it felt on hot days in humid DC. I can’t imagine having full facial hair through a hot DC summer.
After about a week into the growing stage I decided it would have been fun to document how it all grew in. I missed the boat on that opportunity. To make up for it I decided that when I shaved it I would have a little bit of fun. I decided to take pictures of every stage in the shaving process and to try out as many styles as I could on my way to a clean shave.
So here it goes, from a full beard to a clean shave in about 100 photos. Enjoy!
