Design Week DC, Download
I made it out last night to my first event of 2011’s DC Design Week. “Download” was a great discussion by some of the DC area’s best interactive and design leaders. Each panelist gave a different kind of talk, some more case study oriented and others more about the industry in general. It was all very interesting. I certainly got some new books to look up and learned a whole lot more about the DC design scene.
Here is the list of panelists:
Andrew McClellan of Fleishman-Hillard
Karen Zuckerman of HZDG
Jefferson Liu of AKQA
Stefan Poulos of Pappas Group
Event moderated by:
Bill Colgrove of Threespot
During the event I stepped up to the mic and asked a two part question, first part what new thing today will seem quaint in ten years, and second part, what will be the next big thing in that same ten years. I was very entertained to hear QR codes come up as a passing fad, nice to know I am not the only one who dislikes them.
It was nice to find out I’m not the only one who dislikes QR codes.
It was also great hearing the panelist’s thoughts on augmented reality, location based services, and other smart devices that will certainly be in all our pockets in ten years. In addition, I was lucky enough to get to speak with several of the panelist afterwards and ask a few more questions. Everyone seemed super down to earth and willing to hang out and talk for a few minutes of a Monday night.
Overall all a great event, I look forward to the rest of Design Week DC!
